2022 MEBDI Machine Learning Competition announced
The MEBDI Machine Learning Competition is back!
For this year’s competition, the objective is to devise a machine learning algorithm that provides the best out-of-sample prediction for the unemployment status of workers one year ahead. The sample is drawn from the matched Current Population Survey data from 2008 to 2015. Details, eligibility requirements, and other competition rules are described here:
Submission Deadline: May 13, 2022 by Noon US Central Time.

Inaugural MEBDI Annual Lecture on Big Data
Patrick Bajari delivered the Inaugural MEBDI Lecture on Big Data in-person at the University of Minnesota. The title of his lecture was “The Use of Big Data in Industry: A View from the Front Lines.”
Patrick Bajari is Vice President and Chief Economist at Amazon, and a former professor of Economics at the University of Minnesota. Since joining in 2010, he has helped Amazon build teams in econometrics, machine learning and research science.
First Annual MEBDI Fall Conference
